The fifth round of SMP F4 NEZ Championship ended in Russian celebration. Michael Belov took the pole for every three races of the weekend and finalized his title of the fastest man at Ahvenisto by winning the last race on Sunday.

Saturday was dominated by the Finns but the tide turned on Sunday. The second qualifying and the final race of the weekend was driven on Sunday and Russian Michael Belov showed his pace at Ahvenisto by setting the fastest time on the clock in qualifying both Saturday and Sunday.

The starts didn’t go that well for Belov on Saturday in wet conditions but on Sunday there was no denying who was the fastest at Ahvenisto Circuit. Belov won the final race with an astonishing 7.743 seconds gap to the second position.

- The race went perfectly. I didn’t make mistakes in the start. Yesterday I made mistakes at the start because of wet conditions, I don’t have enough experience on that yet but I am working on that. I’m feeling pretty good now because it was my fastest race.

Finnish Jesse Salmenautio continued his good pace on Sunday as well by finishing second in the last race. Salmenautio’s team mate Konsta Lappalainen was right on his tail the whole race but Salmenautio managed to keep Lappalainen behind and secure his second position.

- Konsta was pushing but I managed to keep him behind. This is a challenging track and it is not easy to overtake here. The pace has been good here this weekend and we will try to maintain that for the next race as well.

Ahvenisto is known to be challenging when it comes to overtaking, and Lappalainen experienced this as he had no chance of passing his team mate.

- It was a pretty good race for me, the start was better than I expected. I got the third place but followed Jesse the whole race, didn’t have a chance to overtake him.

SMP F4 NEZ Championship continues in Finland in three weeks as the Championship moves to Alastaro Circuit on 22-23rd of September.
