ROUND 3, IT’S TIME FOR THE SMP F4 DRIVERS TO TAKE ON THE SOCHI AUTODROM

June 18, 2015

Sochi Autodrom,

It’s time for the SMP F4 drivers to step up to the mark by entering the brand new F1 track, Sochi Autodrom. Two weeks ago the series was at the Moscow Raceway where we saw three different race winners. Niko Kari, Aleksanteri Huovinen and Aleksey Korneev.

After last nights thunderstorm the sun finally greeted us, clearing the air and with that, blue skies brought a slight breeze, which everyone appreciated, under the blazing sun. Yesterday the drivers had their first opportunity to drive on the F1 track. At the end of the day it was Korneev who was back on top fresh of winning Race 3 in Moscow and having a podium finish last weekend at the French F4 at the Hungaroring.

For the Third Round we have Enaam Ahmed and Semen Evstigneev back with us, plus a new Finn to join the series, Simo Laaksonen. This morning’s first session of the day saw Niko Kari topping the time boards with Korneev behind in P2 followed Brit Enaam Ahmed in P3. After data checks were done it was time to get on track once again. To end the day Huovinen topped the boards in P1, Ahmed gained a place to P2 and Kari was P3.

Tomorrow the weekend will officially begin with two free practices, the first at 10:00 and then second at 14:00. Saturday’s schedule will be Qualifying at 10:45 followed by Race 1 at 16:25. The finale of the first Sochi weekend will close with race 2 at 9:40 and Race 3 at 15:20.

Over the course of the weekend, watch out for all the live coverage on Nelonen Pro for the Finnish viewers and on Sport Box for our Russian views, plus we will be covering the action as it happens on our Twitter page!
