The final round of SMP F4 NEZ Championship was driven at Assen Circuit, Netherlands. Battle for the Championship win was boiling hot between Russian Michael Belov and Finnish Konsta Lappalainen.

Lappalainen had a 44 point lead in the Championship before Assen weekend. The first race on Saturday however turned the tide when Lappalainen was forced to retire due to technical issues. His biggest rival Russian Michael Belov won the first race of the weekend with 25 points to his name. Russian Ivan Berets started from the pole but lost positions after suffering from technical problems. Belgian Amaury Cordeel rose to the second position and Swedish Isac Blomqvist completed the podium.

Technical issues played a part in the second race as well. Belov was leading the race after starting from the pole but the faced a technical issue. Belov crossed the finishing line fourth as Cordeel, Lappalainen and Berets all managed to overtake the young Russian. Cordeel was crowned as the winner of the second race followed by Lappalainen. Ivan Berets was third.

Sunday brought more dark clouds for Michael Belov as his technical problems continued and he ended up with no laps from the second qualifying. This dropped him on the very last grid position for the third race whilst Championship leader Lappalainen started from the fifth position. As the race started Belov was on a hunt for the lead but a collision with Ivan Berets ended his season in retirement and resulted in second position in the Championship. Berets won the last race of the season followed by the new Champion Lappalainen. Amaury Cordeel ended up third.

After a rocky start Konsta Lappalainen took the Championship to Finland with a total of 316 points and a massive 41 points lead.

- Feeling good, we will continue the journey as a Champion now. Winning the Championship was the plan right from the beginning and I managed to achieve that. Few first race weekends were a little bumpy but after that it started to roll all the way until the end. I want to thank the whole team for the work they have done and especially the chief himself, my dad Petri and then my mechanic Kalle. Everyone has been very supportive even through the harder times.

- The qualifying this morning didn’t go quite as planned. I started fifth but managed to rise to the second position right away. After that it was basically just driving on the same position until the end but that ensured the Championship.

Lappalainen still kept his future plans a mystery but revealed he had already thought about his options for next year.

- Of course we have thought about next season and have already dropped some options out, so it is getting clearer all the time.
